9 Commissioning
9.1 General Commissioning Notes
The device is designed for use in industrial environment, for installation in standard
relay rooms and compartments so that with proper installation electromagnetic
compatibility (EMC) is ensured.
Siemens recommends:
• Equip contactors and relays operating within the same cabinet or on the same
relay panel with digital protection equipment with suitable quenching equip-
ment.
• If the construction allows it, install the Injection Unit 7XT71 and the 7UM62/
7UM85 in the same control cabinet or close to each other.
• Use shielded connection cables with a maximum length of 10 m to connect the
Injection Unit 7XT71 and the 7UM62/7UM85.
NOTE
Siemens recommends leaving the device at the installation site for at least 2 hours
in order to equalize the temperature and avoid moisture and condensation.
NOTICE
The printed circuit board assembly of the device contains electrostatic sensitive
devices (ESD), for example CMOS circuits
Non-observance of the ESD regulations can result in material damage.
✧ Observe the ESD regulations.
✧ Prevent electrostatic charging in the environment of the printed circuit board
assembly.
✧ It is not allowed to plug in or remove the plug-in module when auxiliary voltage
is applied.
There is no risk once the modules are installed.
