BATTERY
REPLACEMENT
A
dead
battery
or
one
too
weak
to
start
the
engine
may
not
mean
the
battery
needs
to
be
replaced.
It
may,
as
an
example,
mean
that
the
charging
system
is
not
working
properly
or
that
the
battery
has
lost
its
charge
during
storage.
First,
“Clean
Battery
&
Cables”
and
“Check
Battery
Fluid
Levels”
as
described
on
page
12.
Have
the
battery
recharged,
if
necessary.
If
there
is
any
doubt
about
the
cause
of
the
problem,
see
your
dealer.
If
you
must
replace
the
battery,
remove
and
install
the
battery
as
described
in
“Clean
Battery
&
Cables”.
JUMP
STARTING
WITH
AUXILIARY
(BOOSTER)
BATTERY
Jump
starting
is
not
recommended.
First,
check
the
battery
as
described
in
“Battery
Replacement”
above.
If
jump
starting
must
be
done,
follow
these
directions.
Both
boos¬
ter
and
discharged
batteries
should
be
treat¬
ed
carefully
when
using
jumper
cables.
Fol¬
low
exactly
procedures
one
through
five,
being
careful
not
to
cause
sparks.
