Troubleshooting & Repair
BELT REPLACEMENT - 36" MOWER
1. Remove mower from the tractor.
2. Loosen the belt guide (C, figure 26) on
the idler pulley (E).
3. Remove the belt from the pulleys.

4. I nstall the new belt on the pulleys. The
belt pattern is shown in figure 27.
5. R eposition the belt guide on the idler
pulley (figure 26). Before tightening the
nut (D), position the belt guide so it is
I /4 inch (6 mm) behind the idler arm
(B) when viewed from above (figure 26).
Hold the belt guide when tightening
nut.
A. V-Pulley, Right Arbor
B. V-Pulley, Left Arbor
C. Engine PTO Pulley
D. Flat Idler Pulley
6. R einstall the mower on the tractor (see
Mower Installation). Engage the PTO
lever and make sure the belt guide (C,
figure 26) does not touch the belt.
7. C heck mower drive belt tension and
belt stop adjustment as described in
Adjustment section. After about two
hours of operation, recheck the mower
drive belt tension.
BELT REPLACEMENT - 42" MOWER
1. Remove the mower from the tractor.
2. Loosen the left belt stop (D, figure 28)
enough to slip the belt off the pulley.
Remove the right belt stop (A).
