2. Remove the cover (B, Figure25).
3. Remove the fastener(s) (C, Figure25) and retainer (D).
4. Remove the air filter (E, Figure25).
5. Remove the pre-cleaner (F, Figure25), if equipped, from
the air filter (E).
6. To loosen debris, gently tap the air filter (E, Figure25) on
a hard surface. If the air filter is dirty, replace it with a new
air filter.
7. Clean the pre-cleaner (F, Figure25), if equipped, in liquid
detergent and water. Let the pre-cleaner air dry fully.Do
notlubricate the pre-cleaner.
8. Assemble the dry pre-cleaner (F, Figure25), if equipped,
to the air filter (E).
9. Install the air filter (E, Figure25) and secure with retainer
(D) and fastener(s) (C).
10. Install the cover (B, Figure25) and secure with the
fastener(s) (A). Make sure that the fastener(s) is tight.
Intake Screen
• Keep air intake screen clean.
• Remove debris off the lower intake screen.
Transmission Oil Cooler
The transmission oil cooler (A, Figure26) is located behind
the engine.
Use compressed air to remove debris off the transmission oil
cooler.

Check Transmission Oil Level
NOTICE
Do not let dirt, water, or other debris to enter the expansion
chamber or transmission. Even a small amount of dirt can
damage the transmission.
Use type F automatic transmission fluid.
1. Clean the area around the transmission dipstick (A,
Figure27).
2. Check and fill the transmission oil level. Make sure that
themower is in the transport position.
3. Remove the dipstick from transmission. Remove
remaining oil off the dipstick with a clean cloth.
4. Install the dipstick into the transmission fill area.
5. Remove the dipstick and check the oil level. When the
transmission is cold, make sure that the oil level is flush
with the top of the hash mark area.
