Lubrication
Lubricate the unit at the locations as shown in
Figures31,32,33including the lubrication points listed
below. Use automotive lithium grease or fresh clean engine
oil, as indicated. Keep oil and grease off belts and pulleys.
Clean the surfaces before and after lubrication.

• Steering linkage
• Foot pedal
• Mower linkage
• Transmission idler assembly pivot
• Rear axle shafts (remove wheel hubs)
• Front axle where it contacts the frame
• All drive shaft universal joints
• Mower belt tension bracket pivots

• Control linkage
• Seat adjustment assembly
• Brake linkage
• Mower deck height adjustment linkage
• Manual lift lever

Brake Adjustment
1. Disengage the PTO, stop the engine, block the wheels,
remove the ignition key, and engage the parking brake.
2. Remove the mower deck. Refer to Mower Deck Manual.
3. Locate the brake spring (A, Figure34).
4. Measure the length of the compressed brake spring with
the parking brake on. Make sure that thebrake spring
length is 3-1/2 to 3-3/4” (8.9 - 9.5 cm).
5. If necessary, adjust the brake spring locknut to achieve
the correct compressed spring length. If this does not
correct a braking problem, see an Authorized Service
Dealer.

Taillight and Dash Light Replacement
1. Twist the socket counterclockwise and pull out to remove
it from the taillight or dashboard display as shown in
Figure35.
