Symptom Cause and/or Corrective Actions
The contrast between the subject and background is too high.
This is not a malfunction.
The smear phenomenon is occurring. This is not a malfunction.
SLOW SHTR, Super NightShot or Colour Slow Shutter is
activated. This is not a malfunction.
If 10 minutes passes after you set the POWER switch to
CAMERA or DEMO MODE is set to ON in the menu settings
without a cassette or a “Memory Stick”*

inserted, your
camcorder automatically starts the demonstration.
c Insert a cassette or a “Memory Stick”*

or press the LCD
screen. The demonstration stops. You can also set DEMO
MODE to OFF in the menu settings (p. 243).
NIGHTSHOT is set to ON.
c Slide it to OFF (p. 48).
NIGHTSHOT is set to ON in a bright place.
c Slide it to OFF (p. 48).
The back light function is active.
c Deactivate it (p. 47).
The LCD BACKLIGHT switch is set to OFF.

PORTRAIT or SPORTS of PROGRAM AE is on when recording
in light from a discharge tube such as a fluorescent lamp,
sodium lamp or mercury lamp.
c Set PROGRAM AE to AUTO in the menu settings (p. 79).

candle flame against a dark
