13 TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE
13.1 Charger
Condition LEDs on
Charger
Cause Remedy
LED on charger
flashes red.
LED flashes
red.
No electrical con‐
tact between
charger and bat‐
tery.
Remove the battery and reinsert it into the
charger.
Malfunction in
battery.
Remove the battery and reinsert it into the
charger.
If the LED continues to flash, do not attempt to
charge.
If 4 LEDs on the battery are flashing, it has a
malfunction and must be replaced. Otherwise,
have the battery checked by an authorized
STIHL servicing dealer.

The charger
does not run a
self-test.
The LED
does not
glow green
for about
1 second
and then red
for about

14.2 Ambient Temperature Limits
WARNING
Extreme temperatures can damage the battery
and may also cause it to generate heat, rup‐
ture, leak, ignite or explode, resulting in severe
or fatal personal injury or property damage.
Never charge or store the battery outside the
ambient temperature limits specified below.
Do not charge the battery below - 4 °F (-
20 °C) or above 122 °F (50 °C).
Do not store the battery or charger below -
4 °F (- 20 °C) or above 158 °F (70 °C).
14.3 Ambient Temperature Recom‐
mendations
For optimum performance, observe the following
ambient temperature ranges for the battery and
charger:
Charging: 41 °F to 104 °F (5 °C to 40 °C)
Storage: - 4 °F to 122 °F (- 20 °C to 50 °C)
Charging or storing the battery outside the rec‐
ommended ambient temperature ranges may
reduce performance.
If the battery became damp or wet during opera‐
tion, allow it to dry at least 48 hours at tempera‐
tures between 59 °F (15 °C) and 122 °F (50 °C)
and relative humidity below 70 % before charg‐
ing or storing. Higher humidity can extend the
drying time.
