Preparation
for
Use-—
2246
Operators
Before
turning
on
the
power,
first
verify
that
ventilation
holes
on
the
bottom
and
sides
of
the
cabinet
are
free
of
`
any
obstruction
to
airflow.
START-UP
On
the
initial
power-up
of
the
instrument,
characteriza-
tions
of
the
vertical
and
horizontal
systems
to
calibrate
portions
of
the
measurement
system
are
done.
After
the
initial
20-minute
warmup
period,
the
seif-characterization
procedure
is
done
automatically
to
adjust
the
gains
and
offsets
to
account
for
the
operating
temperature
of
the
instrument,
and
the
calibration
constants
are
stored
in
memory.
These
start-up
procedures
will
not
be
repeated
again
unless
the
calibration
constants
have
been
lost
from
memory.
A
possible
reason
for
this
to
happen
is
that
the
keep-alive
battery
is
dead
and
in
need
of
replacement.
Refer
the
instrument
to
a
qualified
service
person
if
the
battery
needs
replacement.
REPACKAGING
FOR
SHIPMENT
it
is
recommended
that
the
original
carton
and
packing
material
be
saved
in
the
event
it
is
necessary
for
the
instrument
to
be
reshipped
using
a
commercial
transport
=
carrier.
If
the
original
materials
are
unfit
or
not
available,
then
repackage
the
instrument
using
the
following
procedure.
1.
Use
a
corrugated
cardboard
shipping
carton
having
a
test
strength
of
at
least
275
pounds
and
with
an
inside
dimension
at
least
six
inches
greater
than
the
instrument
dimensions.
2.
if
the
instrument
is
being
shipped
to
a
Tektronix
Service
Center,
enclose
the
following
information;
show
the
owner’s
address,
name
and
phone
number
of
a
con-
tact
person,
type
and
serial
number
of
the
instrument,
reason
for
returning,
and
a
complete
description
of
the
service
required.
3.
Completely
wrap
the
instrument
with
polyethylene
sheeting
or
equivalent
to
protect
the
outside
finish
and
prevent
entry
of
harmful
substances
into
the
instrument.
4.
Cushion
instrument
on
all
sides
using
three
inches
of
padding
material
or
urethane
foam,
tightly
packed
between
the
carton
and
the
instrument.
5.
Seal
the
shipping
carton
with
an
industrial
stapler
or
strapping
tape.
6.
Now
mark
the
address
of
the
Tektronix
Service
Center
and
also
your
own
return
address
on
the
shipping
carton
in
two
prominent
locations.
