TestUsingtheGrassBag

Youcanusethegrassbagtoperformanadditionaltest

tocheckthebladebrakeclutchmechanism:

1.Installtheemptygrassbagonthedischargetunnel.

2.Starttheengine.

3.Pushthebladecontrolbardowntoitslowest

position.

4.Liftthebladecontrolbartothenormalblade

engagedpositionaboutoneinch(2.5cm)belowthe

handle.Thebagshouldbegintoinate,indicating

thatthebladeisengagedandrotating.

5.Releasethebladecontrolbar.Ifthebagdoes

notimmediatelydeate,itindicatesthattheblade

isstillrotating.Thebladebrakeclutchmaybe

deteriorating,and,ifignored,couldresultinan

unsafeoperatingcondition.Havethelawnmower

inspectedandservicedbyanAuthorizedService

Dealer.

AdjustingtheCuttingHeight

Eachwheelisadjustedindividuallywithawheelheight

adjustmentlever.Cuttingheightsare1inch(25mm),

1-1/2inches(38mm),2inches(51mm),2-1/2inches

(64mm),3inches(76mm),and3-1/2inches(89mm).

DANGER

Adjustingthecuttingheightleverscouldbring

yourhandsintocontactwithamovingbladeand

resultinseriousinjury.

•Stoptheengineandwaitforallmovementto

stopbeforeadjustingthecuttingheight.

•Donotputyourngersunderthehousing

Why Toro 22198 engine does not start?

  Your Toro Lawn Mower engine might not be starting due to several reasons: the fuel tank could be empty or contain stale fuel (in which case, drain and refill with fresh gasoline; if the problem continues, contact an Authorized Service Dealer), the throttle lever may not be in the Choke position (move it to the Choke position), the wire might not be connected to the spark plug (connect it), or the spark plug could be pitted, fouled, or have an incorrect gap (check and adjust the gap, or replace the spark plug if necessary).

  A rough-running Toro Lawn Mower engine may be caused by the wire not being connected to the spark plug (connect it), a spark plug that is pitted, fouled, or has an incorrect gap (check and adjust the gap, or replace the spark plug if necessary), the throttle lever not being in the Fast position (move it to the Fast position), or a dirty air filter restricting air flow (clean the air filter pre-cleaner and/or replace the paper air filter).

  If your Toro Lawn Mower is not self-propelling, the self-propel drive cable may be out of adjustment or damaged (adjust the self-propel drive cable, replace the cable if necessary), or there may be debris under the belt cover (clean the debris from under the belt cover).

  If your Toro Lawn Mower engine starts hard or loses power, it could be due to stale fuel in the fuel tank (drain and refill with fresh gasoline), a dirty air filter restricting air flow (clean the air filter pre-cleaner and/or replace the paper air filter), clippings and debris under the lawn mower deck (clean the underside of the deck), a faulty spark plug (check the spark plug and adjust the gap if necessary, replace if pitted, fouled, or cracked), or low/dirty engine oil (check the engine oil; change if dirty or add if low).
