Ifthelawnmowerdoesnotself-propelorhasatendency
tocreepforwardwhenthecontrolbarismorethan
1-1/2inches(3.8cm)fromthehandle,adjustthewheel
drivecontrolknobontherearofthegearbox.
1.Closethedoorinthelawnmowerhousingand
removethegrassbag.
2.Rotatethecontrolknobclockwiseahalfturnif
thelawnmowerdoesnotself-propel.Ifthelawn
mowercreepsforward,rotatetheknobahalfturn
counterclockwisetoloosenthebelt(
Figure28).

Wheneveryouinstallanewbladebrakecableassembly
orreplacethebelt,adjustthebladebrakecable.
1.Stoptheengineandwaitforallmovingpartstostop.
2.Disconnectthewirefromthesparkplug(
Figure11).
3.Loosenthecableclampscrewuntilthebrakecable
conduitslides(Figure30).

4.Pullthecabletotheremoveslack,butdonotput
tensiononthespring.Tightenthecableclampscrew
tolocktheadjustmentinplace.
WARNING
Donotovertightenthebladebrakecable.
Overtighteningthebladebrakecablecouldcause
thebladebraketocomeoffofthebrakedrum.If
thebrakedoesnotcontactthedrum,thebladewill
notstoprotatingwhenyoureleasethecontrolbar.
Arotatingbladecouldcauseseriouspersonalinjury.
•Eachtimeyouadjustthebrakecable,ensure
thatthebrakestopsthebladein3secondsor
less.
•Ifthebladedoesnotstoprotatingin3seconds
orless,bringthelawnmowertoanAuthorized
ServiceDealerforinspectionandrepair.
