HOW TO RIDE THE MOTORCYCLE
86
Warning
The engine and exhaust system will be
hot after riding.
DO NOT park where pedestrians
and children are likely to touch the
motorcycle.
Touching any part of the engine or
exhaust system when hot may cause
unprotected skin to become burnt.
To park the motorcycle:
▼ Select neutral and turn the ignition
switch to the OFF position.
▼ Lock the steering to help prevent
theft.
▼ Always park on a firm, level surface
to prevent the motorcycle from
falling.
▼ When parking on a hill, always
park facing uphill to prevent the
motorcycle from rolling off the
stand. Engage first gear to prevent
the motorcycle from moving.
▼ On a lateral (sideways) incline,
always park such that the incline
naturally pushes the motorcycle
towards the sidestand.
▼ Do not park on a lateral (sideways)
incline of greater than 6° and never
park facing downhill.
▼ Make sure that the side stand is
fully retracted before riding off.
▼ Do not leave the switch in the
PARK position (if equipped) for long
periods of time as this will discharge
the battery.
▼ When parking near traffic at night,
or when parking in a location where
parking lights are required by law,
leave the rear, license plate and
position lights on by turning the
ignition switch to PARK (if equipped).
