Problem Cause Remedy
Excessive vibration  Loose parts or damaged auger.  Stop engine immediately and disconnect
spark plug wire. Check for possible damage.
Tighten all bolts and nuts. Repair as needed.
If the problem persists, take snow thrower to
an authorized service dealer.
Snow thrower fails to self-
propel
 Auger control cable out of adjustment.
2. Auger drive belt loose or damaged.
 Adjust auger control cable as shown in
Maintenance & Adjustments section.
2. Replace auger drive belt.
Augers continue to rotate  Auger control cable out of adjustment.  Adjust auger control cable as shown in
Maintenance & Adjustments section.
Snow thrower fails to
discharge snow
 Chute assembly clogged.
2. Foreign object lodged in auger.
3. Auger control cable out of adjustment.
 Auger belt loose or damaged.
 Stop engine and disconnect spark plug wire.
Clean chute and inside of auger housing with
clean-out tool or stick.
2. Stop engine immediately and disconnect the
spark plug wire. Remove object from auger.
3. Adjust auger control cable.
 Replace auger belt.
