The Lambda
probe1)*
is
fitted
in the
exhaust pipe in
front
of the catalytic
con-
verter and measures the exhaust gas
composition continuously. The informa-
tion
signal is fed to an electronic control
unit
which in
turn
regulates the mixture
formation system so
that
the mixture is
kept constantly correct.
A
special tank ventilating system, effec-
tively prevents fuel vapour in the tank
from escaping
into
the atmosphere.
The vapour is passed to a container filled
with
activated charcoal. When engine is
not running the fuel content of this vapour
is
retained by the activated charcoal.
When the engine is running a valve opens
and allows air to flow through the contain-
er and take the fuel vapour to the engine
for combustion. The system requires no
attention or maintenance.
