Emergency shifting
If a fault occurs which prevents the revers gear from
being operated (shifted) with the control lever, it is pos-
sible to shift manually, using the description below.
NOTE! The descriptions refer to electrically shifted
reverse gear.
WARNING! In emergency shifting, the unit is
locked in forwards operation. Please note that
the drive can not then be disengaged with the
control lever. Forward motion can only be cut off
by stopping the engine with the ignition key or
stop button.
Reverse gear
This description is for manual engagement of the
reverse gear, for forward travel.
Manual engagement of the reverse gear:
1. Stop the engine and remove the ignition key from
the ignition lock.
2. Undo the screw (1) on the side where the cable
harness marked A is connected.
3. Remove washer (2) and tighten the screw.
4. Undo cables A and B from the solenoid valves.
Water in fuel
If the lamp and on the Alarm display flash
alternatelly and the buzzer sound three short signals,
this indicates to much water in the pre-fuel filter. Water
in fuel will be displayed on the tachometer/LCD gauge.
WARNING! Do not continue operation if there is
water in the fuel trap. This could cause serious
engine damage.
NOTE! The water sensor is mandatory equipment.
Draining of fuel pre-filter.
1. Stop the engine and take out the starter key of the
starter switch.
2. Remove the cable from the water sensor (1).
3. Place a suitable receptacle under the fuel filter and
carefully unscrew the plug (2) enough to allow the
water to run out.
4. Screw in the plug until it bottoms against the filter.
5. Fasten the cable from the water sensor (1).
6. If the fault remains after the water trap is emptied ,
contact a Volvo Penta workshop.
IMPORTANT! Wait a few hours after the engine
has been turned off before draining the filter.
