Fault Tracing
A number of symptoms and possible causes of engine
malfunctions are described in the table below. Always
contact your Volvo Penta dealer if any problems occur
which you can not solve by yourself.

Symptoms and possible causes
The diagnosis button lamp flashes Please refere to Diagnostic Function
Engine can not be stopped 2, 5
Starter motor does not rotate 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 24
Starter motor rotates slowly 1, 2
Starter motor rotates normally but engine does not
start
8, 9, 10, 11,
Engine starts but stops again 8, 9, 10, 11, 13
Engine does not reach correct operating speed at
full throttle

Engine runs roughly 10, 11
High fuel consumption 12, 13, 15, 25

Too low lubrication oil pressure 16
