Read off other fault codes for the instrument cluster.
•
Ignition off.
•
Check all the relevant connectors. Check for loose
connections, contact resistance and oxidation. For a

Measurement at the component’s
connector to the instrument cluster
Note: Faults in the instrument cluster cable harness can
damage the component. Check the component if any of
the readings is outside its permitted range.

Connector A disconnected from
the rear of the cluster and con-
nected to adapter and breakout
box.
•
Measuring resistance using a
multimeter.
•
Ignition off.

Checking sub-systems
Power supply instrument cluster

Requirements:
•
Check if any other control units
have stored fault codes for the
power supply.
•
Perform a charging test on the ve-
hicle to check if the alternator is
overcharging. A defective alterna-
tor will cause damage to the
vehicle’s electrical system and
should be replaced as soon as
possible.
