Fault code
FMI 2
Intermittent or incorrect data.
Conditions for fault code:
•
If the control unit cannot communicate via the J1939
control data link the instrument cluster interprets this
as a fault, and a fault code is stored.
Possible cause:
•
Open-circuit in the data link cable between the in-
strument cluster and other control unit (SWM).
•
Short-circuit to ground in the data link cable between
the instrument cluster and other control unit (SWM).
•
Short-circuit to voltage in the data link cable between
the instrument cluster and other control unit (SWM).
Reaction from the instrument cluster:
•
Fault code is stored.
Noticeable external symptoms:
•
Radio functions are not shown in the instrument
cluster display.
•
Lights cannot be controlled by steering wheel
switches.
Appropriate check:
•
Fault-trace the J1939 data link, see service informa-
tion group 371 ”Data links, fault-tracing”.
