6. After the tone, speak towards the
microphone of the handset or the
telephone base. Press STOP to end the
recording.
7. The newly recorded announcement
automatically plays. Press STOP to stop
the playback at any time, or RECORD
to record again, if desired.
• Announcements shorter than two seconds
will not be recorded.
Play the announcement
1. Press MENU when the phone is not in
use.
2. Press q or p to choose Answering sys
then press SELECT.
3. Press q or p to choose Line 1 or
Line 2, then press SELECT.
4. Press SELECT to select Announcement.
5. Press q or p to choose Play annc,
then press SELECT.
Options during playback:
• Press p/VOLUME/q on the handset
or p/VOL/q on the telephone base to
adjust the listening volume.
• Press STOP to stop at any time.
• Press on the handset to switch
between the speakerphone and the
handset earpiece.
Delete or reset the announcement
1. Press MENU when the phone is not in
use.
2. Press q or p to choose Answering sys
then press SELECT.
3. Press q or p to choose Line 1 or
Line 2, then press SELECT.
4. Press SELECT to select Announcement.
5. Press q or p to choose Reset annc,
then press SELECT. The screen
prompts Reset to default annc?.
Using the telephone base:
• Press ON/OFF LINE 1 and/or ON/
OFF LINE 2 to turn the corresponding
answering system on or off. When
the answering system is turned on, it
announces, “Calls will be answered.”
When the answering system is turned
off, it announces, “Calls will not be
answered.”
Using the handset:
1. Press MENU when the phone is not in
use.
2. Press q or p to choose Answering sys
and then press SELECT.
3. Press q or p to choose Line 1 or
Line 2, then press SELECT.
4. Press q or p to choose Answer
ON/OFF and then press SELECT.
5. Press q or p to choose On or Off and
then press SELECT to save. You hear a
confirmation tone.
Default announcement
The telephone is preset with a greeting
that answers calls with “Hello, please leave
a message after the tone.” You can use this
preset announcement, or replace it with
your own.
Record your own announcement
The announcement can be up to 90
seconds in length.
1. Press MENU when the phone is not in
use.
2. Press q or p to choose Answering sys
then press SELECT.
3. Press q or p to choose Line 1 or
Line 2, then press SELECT.
4. Press SELECT to select Announcement.
5. Press q or p to choose Record
annc, then press SELECT. The system
announces, “Record after the tone.
Press STOP when you are done.”.
