Safety instructions
Adjust the drawbar height using the handle only.
Check the adjustable drawbar before every trip.
The external teeth lock washer must engage with
each other backlash-free.
Breakaway cable
Caution!
Danger due to uncoupling of trailer! Always route
the breakaway cable through the breakaway cable
guide ring!
Attach the breakaway cable in such a way that cor-
nering is not impeded.
The breakaway cable must not be wrapped around
the jockey wheel.
Observe country-specifi c regulations when attaching the
breakaway cable.
Jockey wheel
Ensure that the jockey wheel is seated securely.
Parking
If the trailer is to be uncoupled from the towing ve-
hicle:
the parking brake must be applied.
the trailer must be secured by means of two
additional chocks.
When parking the vehicle-trailer combination, apply
the parking brake of the trailer.
Danger - risk of injury!
The trailer may roll back 25 - 30 cm before the full
braking force is applied! Ensure that there is suffi ci-
ent space when parking the trailer.
Operation
Adjustment of the inertia braking system
Attention crushing!
1. Unplug the spring cotter pin (( 4-1)
2. Release and turn the stop handle ( 4-2) as far
as it will go.
3. Adjust the IBS clutch component using the handle
upwards (50°) or downwards (10°) as far as it
will go.
4. Tighten the stop handle and secure it with a stroke
of hammer (hard rubber hammer).
5. Retighten the stop handle after about 50 km.
If the drawbar is not in use over a longer period,
the laterals can become unfastened up-, and side-
ward by jerky movements.
Apply the handbrake:
Always tighten the handbrake beyond the dead-centre
position (1).
Release the handbrake:
Set the handbrake lever back to its original position. The
dead-centre point is clearly sensible.
Assembly
Installation on the vehicle must meet the require-
ments of Directive 94/20/EC, Annex VII.
Any applicable installation guidelines must be taken
into consideration.
The breakaway cable must always be properly in-
serted through a breakaway cable guide ring (
2).
The hand-brake lever may not rest on the ground in
an emergency. It is essential that appropriate clea-
rance be provided (
2-1, 3-1).
Warning - risk of accident!
In an emergency, it must be ensured that the hand-
brake lever remains free to move after activation
using the breakaway cable (hand-brake in closed
position).
If the hand-brake were to contact the surface of the
roadway, the emergency brake would no longer
function!
AL-KO recommends mounting a support clip
(
3-2) and testing the free movement with the
hand-brake fully engaged (emergency brake ac-
tivated).
