- Connect the manual and automatic condensate drain outlets to a drain collector. See section
Condensate system.
The drain pipes to the drain collector must not dip into the water. For draining of pure condensate
water, install an oil/water separator which is available from Atlas Copco as an option; see section
OSD unit. If the pipes have been fitted outside the room where freezing is possible, they must be
insulated.
- Check the oil level (Gl).
The oil level sight-glass should be between 1/4 and 3/4 full.
- Provide labels, warning the operator that:
• The compressor may automatically restart after voltage failure (if activated, consult Atlas
Copco).
• The compressor is automatically controlled and may be restarted automatically.
• The compressor may be remotely controlled.
- Switch on the voltage. Start the compressor and stop it immediately.
Check the rotation direction of the drive motor (M1) while the motor is coasting to a stop.
The correct rotation direction of the drive motor is clockwise when facing the non-drive end of the
motor and is indicated by an arrow (3). Check also that the fan motors are blowing cooling air
through the roof of the compressor.
If the rotation direction of the drive motor is incorrect, switch off the voltage and reverse two incoming
electric lines.
- Check the programmed settings. Consult section Programmable settings.
- Start and run the compressor for a few minutes. Check that the compressor operates normally.
5.2 Before starting
Procedure
- Check the oil level; top up if necessary. See section Initial start-up.
