The rebound-stage setting
controls the way the sus-
pension reacts as it extends,
whereas the compression-
stage setting influences com-
pression of the front forks un-
der load.
The harder the setting, the
more the movement that the
forks can make to absorb sur-
face irregularities is damped.
When you choose a soft set-
ting the forks respond all the
more rapidly to surface irregu-
larities.
You can adjust both the lin-
ear and progressive com-
ponents of the telescopic-fork
compression-stage damping
characteristic.
The linear component is the
basic damping setting, while
the progressive component
determines the extent
to which the suspension
becomes harder as spring
travel increases.
Adjusting linear
component of
compression-stage
characteristic for the
telescopic forks
Make sure the ground is
level and firm and place the
motorcycle on its stand.
Remove rubber cap 1.
You adjust the linear com-
ponent of the compression-
stage characteristic by turn-
ing adjusting screw 2.
If you want harder damping,
use a screwdriver to turn
the adjusting screw in the
clockwise direction.
If you want softer damping,
use a screwdriver to turn
the adjusting screw in the
counter-clockwise direction.
