Checking brake pads
Rear brake
Have the brake pads replaced
before the minimum allowable
thickness is reached.
For your safety, we recommend
having work on the brake sys-
tem performed by a BMW-certi-
fied workshop, preferably an
authorized BMW motorcycle re-
tailer.
Place the motorcycle on its
center stand, making sure
that the surface is level and
firm
Remove the brake caliper
(
b 32)
Check/measure brake pad
thickness A without the pad
backplate
Minimum pad thickness:
0.06 in (1.5 mm)
Before the linings wear to the
minimum permissible thick-
ness:
have the brake pads replaced
by a BMW-certified workshop,
preferably an authorized BMW
motorcycle retailer.
Install the brake caliper (
