Engine oil
Proprietary HD oil, API classification SF, SG or SH; suffix letters
CD or CE are allowable; alternatively, proprietary HD oil of CCMC
classification G4 or G5; suffix PD2 is allowable.
The viscosity class depends on outside temperatures.
Temperatures above or below the limits quoted for the individ-
ual SAE classifications are allowable for brief periods only.
“Special Oils” are approved individually by BMW AG and avail-
able from your authorized BMW motorcycle retailer.
All engine oils supplied by BMW are subject to regular BMW
quality assurance checks.
BMW does not approve the use of any upper-cylinder lubricants
or similar oil additives.
