If you want to increase spring
preload, turn knob 1 in the dir-
ection indicated by the HIGH
arrow.
Basic setting of spring
preload, rear
without Electronic Suspen-
sion Adjustment (ESA)
OE
Turn the knob as far as it
will go in the LOW direction,
then preload the spring by
10 clicks. (Full load of fuel,
with rider 85 kg)
You can ascertain the current
setting by counting the num-
ber of slots that are visible
(five when the adjuster is at
the LOW stop).
Damping
Setting
Damping must be adapted to suit
the surface on which the motor-
cycle is ridden and to suit spring
preload.
An uneven surface requires
softer damping than a smooth
surface.
An increase in spring preload
requires firmer damping, a re-
duction in spring preload re-
quires softer damping.
Adjusting damping for
rear wheel
Make sure the ground is level
and firm and place the motor-
cycle on its stand.
There is a risk of injury
by burns if you adjust the
damping characteristic while the
silencer is hot.
Use a screwdriver extension and
wear protective gloves.
