6.1 Compressor Requirements
The compressor is designed to meet the UL and
ASHRAE safety code for refrigeration compressors. The
manufacturing facilities for the compressor conduct pres-
sure burst tests in accordance with ASHRAE-15, UL
safety codes and the Pressure Equipment 97/23/CEE
directive.
6.2 Design Pressures
Pressure Relief Valve
The internal relief valve is designed to open when the
pressure
differential between suction and discharge pres-
sure is greater than 27.6 bar (400 psid) for R-134a and
greater than 30 bar (435 psid) for R-404A. The valve will
close and seal again after the pressure difference falls
below the set value.
Hydrostatic Design Pressures
The design pressures for the compressor castings are
listed in Table 17.
