Gasoline
Thegasolinetankislocatedunderthe hood.Do notoverfill.
Useextremecarewhenhandlinggasoline.Gasolineisextremely
flammableandthevaporsareexplosive.Neverfuel machineindoors
orwhiletheengineis hotor running.Extinguishcigarettes,cigars,
_ppes,andothersourcesof gn t on.
NOTE : Purchasegasolineinsmallquantities.Donotuse gasolineleft
overfromthe previousseason,tominimizegumdepositsin the fuel
system.
• Thisengineiscertifiedto operateon unleadedgasoline.For best
results,fillthe fueltankwithonlyclean,fresh,unleadedgasoline
witha pumpstickeroctaneratingof 87or higher.
• Gasohol(upto 10%ethylalcohol,90%unleadedgasolineby
volume)isanapprovedfuel.Othergasoline/alcoholblends,such
asE85,arenotapproved.
• MethylTertiaryButylEther(MTBE)andunleadedgasolineblends
(uptoa maximumof 15%MTBEby volume)are approvedfuels.
Othergasoline/etherblendsare notapproved.
• Fillfuel tankoutdoorsorin well-ventilatedarea.
• Do notoverfillfuel tank.Filltanktono morethan 1/2inchbelow
bottomof filler necktoallowspacefor fuel expansion.
• Neverremovegascapor addfuelwhilethe engineis hotor run-
ning.Allowenginetocool at leasttwo minutesbeforerefueling.
• Ifgasolineisspilled,wipe it off theengineandequipment.Move
machineto anotherarea.Wait5 minutesbeforestartingthe
engine.
1. Turntheengineoff andletenginecool at least2 minutesbefore
removingthe fuelcap.The gasolinetankis underthe hood,with
thefuelfill cap locatedontheleft handsideofthetank.
2. Fillthe fueltankwithgasoline.
3. Reinstallthefuelcap.
For California Models:
ForCaliforniamodelsequippedwitha tethered,ratchetingfuelcap,
STOPfillingtankoncefuelis seeninsidethefiller neck. Thisensures
thata properexpansionvolumeis created,otherwisethefuel canover-
flowcreatinga hazardoussituation. Do NOTfillto thetop of thefiller
neck.On Californiamodels,fillthetank inaccordancewith Figure7.

SAFETY INTERLOCK SYSTEM
Thesafetyinterlocksystemis designedfor safeoperationof thetrac-
tor.If thissystemshouldevermalfunction,donot operatethe tractor,
immediatelycontact1-800-4-MY-HOMEto havethe systemserviced.
• The safetyinterlocksystempreventsthe enginefromstarting
unlessthe parkingbrakeis engagedandthe PTO(BladeEngage)
leveris inthedisengaged(OFF)position.
• The safetyinterlocksystemwill automaticallyshutoffthe engineif
theoperatorleavesthe seatbeforeengagingthe parkingbrake.
• The safetyinterlocksystemwill automaticallyshutoffthe engine
if theoperatorleavesthe tractor'sseatwiththePTO(Blade
Engage)leverengaged,regardlessof whetherthe parkingbrake
is engaged.
