Parking Brake Adjustment
Neverattempttoadjustthe brakeswhiletheengineis running.
AlwaysdisengagePTO,moveshiftleverintoneutralposition,stop
engineandremovekeyto preventunintendedstarting.
If thetractordoesnotcometoacompletestopwhenthebrakepedal
iscompletelydepressed,or if the tractor'srearwheelscanrollwiththe
parkingbrakeapplied,thebrakeis in needof adjustment.Contactthe
nearest SearsService Centerto haveyourbrakesproperlyadjusted.

CUTTING DECK REMOVAL
To remove the cutting deck, proceed as follows:
1. Placethe PTO(Blade Engage)leverin thedisengaged(OFF)
positionandengagethe parkingbrake.
2. Lowerthe deck bymovingthe deck lift lever intothe bottom
notchon the rightfender.
3. Removetheself-tappingscrew(A) thatsecuresthe belt-keeper
rodfromaroundthe tractor'sPTOpulley,thenremovethe belt
keeperrod(B). SeeFig. 19.
NOTE: Makea mentalnotewhatholethe otherendofthebelt-keeper
rodisinsertedinforreinstallationpurposes.
4. Removethebelt(C) fromaroundthetractor'sPTOpulley.See
Fig.19.

thebow-tiepinthat securesthedecksupportrodontherear
Idt sideofthe deck. SeeFig.20.Removethe bow-tiepinthat
securesthedecksupportrod,andcarefullyremovethedeck
supportfromthedecklift arm.

6. Repeatthe abovestepson the tractor'srightside.
NOTE:The bow-tieclipsshouldbe re-installedfromthe top down.
7. Movethe decklift leverintothe top notchon therightfenderto
raisethe decklift armsupandout of the way.
Avoidpinchinginjuries.Neverplaceyourfingersonthe idlerspringor
betweenthe beltanda pulleywhile removingthe belt.
