Secure Printing Requirements
Secureprintingconsistsofencryptingprintcommandsandcarddataand
transmittingtheinformationsecurelyfromthePCtotheprinter.Touse
encryption,yourprintermustsupportsecureprinting.Printersthatsupport
secureprintingareshippedwithallcommunicationprotocols(secureandnon‐
secure)enabled.Referto“Behavior”onpage 43formoreinformationabout
usingthePrinterManagerwebservicetospecifyprintersecuritysettings.
WhenyouusetheCardPrinterDriver,makesurethatthesecureprintingprotocol
(DPCL2Secure)isenabledandthattheDPCL2non‐securecommunication
protocolisdisabled.DPCLmustremainenabledfortheCardPrinterDriverto
function.Formoreinformation,refertoyourcardprinter’sDriverGuide.
Ifyourcardproductionsiterequiressecureprinting,usethefollowing:
• DatacardSD260L,SD360,orSD460cardprinterswithDPCL2Secure enabled
andDPCL2disabled
• APCthatmeetsthePCrequirementscitedearlierinthissection
• EthernetandUSBconnectionsthatmeettherequirements
• InternetExplorer5.5ornewerinstalledonthePC
TheSD260andearlymodelsofSDprinters(SD260Lprinterswithserialnumbers
belowD11000,andSD360printerswithserialnumbersbelowB17000)donot
supportsecureprintingandhandleonlynon‐secureprinting.Youcaninstallamixof
secureandnon‐secureprinters,butmakesuretoconnectand
installeachsecure
printertotheappropriatehostPCduringinstallation.
