MAINTENANCE
REPLACEMENT
The XIO family of modules with Spectrum communication
was designed with the intent to provide a solution for the
maintenance replacement of existing Novar Spectrum
refrigeration systems where diode type sensors are
approaching end of lifecycle. These products are not for
new application development. Legacy modules did not
support remote firmware upgrade and new modules will
not.
Refrigeration system engineering must review the
application design and wiring for each system prior to
module replacement. Legacy refrigeration control
systems impose constraints on the range of addresses
allocated for each type on the network.
The XIO communication status LED behavior has
changed to remain illuminated until successful
communication has been established. Consecutive
communications will flash the LED to on.
Wiring used for existing Spectrum systems will be
compatible with the XIO. Spectrum systems specified
communications cable as two conductor shielded cable.
(Belden #8761 equivalent, WIR-1010) XIO modules for
Spectrum match legacy polarity markings “(-) SH (+)” for
communication connections.
