Optical drive connector
NOTE: The optical drive connector and cable are included in the optical drive spare part kit. (See Optical
drive on page 33 for the spare part kit information.)
Before removing the optical drive connector board, follow these steps:
1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn
the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and
then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.
4. Remove the battery (see Battery on page 32).
5. Remove the optical drive (see Optical drive on page 33).
6. Remove the base enclosure and keyboard/top cover (see Keyboard/top cover on page 36).
Remove the optical drive connector board:

Disconnect the cable from the ZIF connector (1), and then disconnect the optical drive connector (2)
from the tabs to remove it.
Reverse this procedure to install the optical drive connector board.
