Modem module
NOTE: The modem module spare part kit does not include a modem module cable. The modem
module cable is included in the Cable Kit, spare part number 598766-001.

Before removing the modem module, follow these steps:
1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn
the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet
and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.
4. Remove the battery (see
Battery on page 48), and then remove the following components:
a. Memory module compartment cover (see
Expansion memory module on page 52)
b. Wireless module compartment cover (see
WLAN module on page 57)
c. Switch cover and keyboard (see
Switch cover and keyboard on page 69)
d. Display assembly (see
Display assembly on page 76)
e. Top cover (see
Top cover on page 85)
f. System board (see
System board on page 94)
Remove the modem module:
1. Remove the two Phillips PM2.0×4.0 screws (1) that secure the modem module to the system
board.
2. Lift the modem module (2) straight up to disconnect it from the system board.
