Power on
__ 1. The green PSU PWR LED on the PSUs will turn on solid.
__ 2. Wait for the Primary Support Element Welcome window to appear.
a. If the Primary Support Element Welcome window appears, skip to Step “3” on page 35.
b. If the Alternate Support Element window appears, click the non-lit selection button on the
front end of the interface adapter to return to the Primary Support Element.
Note: The Support Element selection buttons light up when the related Support Element is
selected. This allows you to know which Support Element is communicating with the compact
KMM at any given time.
c. If the Hardware Management Appliance feature (FC 0129) is installed, the Har
dware
Management Appliance HMC Welcome window will appear.
Note: When the Hardware Management Appliance (HMA) feature is installed, the dual 1U
servers will be labeled HMA above the Power On/Off switch. The HMA label indicates front USB
assignments to the Hardware Management Console (HMC) and Support Element (SE).
i) Click
Login to the Hardware Management Console.
ii) Logon to Hardware Management Appliance HMC.
• Type SERVICE in the Username eld.
• Type SERVMODE in the Password eld.
iii) From the Tasks Index, click Virtual Support Element Management Task.
iv) If the status of the Virtual Support Element is Running, skip to the next step. Otherwise,
click Start SE Virtual Machine to start the Virtual Support Element.
v) Click Show SE Console.
Note: Scroll down in the panel to view this option, if needed.
Wait for the Primary Support Element Logon window to appear.
vi) If the Alternate Support Element window appears, click the top button on the KVM switch
to the other Hardware Management Appliance HMC. Then repeat Step 2d to start/show the
Primary Support Element Console.
