1 Press 3 or TOP MENU.
A disc menu appears on the TV screen (the PBC
function is activated).
“PBC“ is indicated in the display window on the
front panel.
2 Use the numeric buttons to select the desired
item.
• To select a number between 1 and 10:
Press the corresponding button for the number.
• To select a number higher than 10:
Use the +10 button.
Examples:
To select 13: +10 → 3
To select 34: +10 → +10 → +10 → 4
To select 40: +10 → +10 → +10 → 10
The unit starts playback of the selected item.
You can return to the menu by pressing the
RETURN button.
When something like “NEXT” or “PREVIOUS”
appears on the TV screen, the unit generally works
as follows:
• Pressing ¢ advances to the next page.
• Pressing 4 returns to the previous page.
* The method of the operation is different
depending on the disc.
• If you want to playback a PBC-compatible SVCD/Video CD
disc without activating the PBC function, start playback by
using the numeric buttons instead of 3 (see page 23).
• To activate the PBC function when a PBC-compatible SVCD/
Video CD disc is being played back without the PBC
function, carry out any of the followings:
* Press TOP MENU or MENU.
* Press 7 to stop playback, then press 3 .
While playing back a DVD AUDIO/DVD VIDEO disc with
more than one title or one group, you can specify a
desired title or group to be played using the numeric
buttons.
¶ During playback
1 Press TITLE/GROUP.
“--” is shown in the title display area of the display
window.

2 Use the numeric buttons to specify a title or
group to be played.
• To select a number between 1 and 10:
Press the corresponding button for the number.
• To select a number higher than 10:
Use the +10 button.
Examples:
To select 13: +10 → 3
To select 34: +10 → +10 → +10 → 4
To select 40: +10 → +10 → +10 → 10
The unit starts playback from the specified title or
group.

NOTE
• Some DVD AUDIO/DVD VIDEO discs may not accept
this function because of disc contents.
