5.3 Measurability
The materials and surfaces of workpieces used in practice are highly varied,
meaning that the manufacturer cannot make exhaustive suitability specifica-
tions despite extensive test series. Therefore, before carrying out qualified
measurements, the user must check for suitability and sufficient accuracy of
the measured object for the specific purpose in combination with the respec-
tive materials and usage conditions.
The following tables provide an overview of the most frequently occurring
workpieces in practice. To be able to execute a measurement, both the ma-
terial as well as the surface of the workpiece must be suitable for the mea-
surement.
