Mishandling the battery shortens the
service life and adds to maintenance
costs. If the battery is insufficiently
charged, the headlights may dim and
the engine is hard to start. It is impor-
tant to inspect the battery periodically.

1. The battery cable should always be
clean and rmly connected. When
installing a new or used battery,
clean its terminals and the end of
the cable.
2. Check the electrolyte level and add
distilled water if necessary.
3. Check the battery and cable for
damage and corrosion.
4. Apply grease to the terminals and
cable end in order to prevent corr-
osion.

or sparks. It may cause a re.
The battery uid contains sul-
furic acid that can burn you.
Do not allow the battery fluid
to contact your eyes, skin, or
painted surfaces. If you acci-
dentally get it in your eyes or
on your skin, ush the site of
contact with water and contact
your doctor.
