Faults Possible cause Action
The engine does not turn when
the start button is pressed
Operating error – Carry out start procedure. ( p. 52)
12 V battery discharged –
Charge the 12-V battery. ( p. 97)
– Check the open-circuit current.
Fuse 1, 2 or 3 blown – Change the fuses of individual electri-
cal power consumers. ( p. 101)
Main fuse burned out – Change the main fuse. ( p. 99)
No ground connection present – Check the ground connection.
Engine turns only if the clutch
lever is drawn
The vehicle is in gear – Shift the transmission to neutral posi-
tion.
The vehicle is in gear and the
side stand is folded out
– Shift the transmission to neutral posi-
tion.
Engine turns but does not start Operating error – Carry out start procedure. ( p. 52)
Fuse 3 blown – Change the fuses of individual electri-

Fuel filter is very dirty – Check the fuel pressure.
Malfunction in the electronic
fuel injection
– Read out the fault memory using the
KTM diagnostics tool.
Engine overheats Too little coolant in cooling sys-
tem
– Check the cooling system for leakage.
– Check coolant level in the compensat-
ing tank. ( p. 108)
Radiator fins very dirty – Clean radiator fins.
Foam formation in cooling sys-
tem
– Drain the coolant. ( p. 109)
– Fill/bleed the cooling system.

Buckled or damaged radiator
hose
– Change the radiator hose.
Thermostat is faulty – Check the thermostat.
