Short circuit and static discharges
The device contains components which can be destroyed in case of a short
circuit or static discharge.
It is especially dangerous if the device housing is opened during operation for
the exchange of the hot-swappable fan.
Possible consequences:
ƒ The device or parts of it will be destroyed.
Protective measures:
ƒ Before carrying out works on the device which do not need the device to be
switched on:
Shut down and switch off the IPC.
Unplug the mains plug.
Open the housing and, if available, disconnect the battery pack. ( 55).
Carry out the work.
ƒ When opening the housing while a voltage is applied, be very careful and
carry out the work immediately. The following must be especially observed:
Do not touch any current-carrying parts.
Do not touch any rotating fan blades (risk of injury!).
Make sure that no small parts fall into the device which would cause a
short circuit.
ƒ All persons who work with printed-circuit boards must consider E SD
measures.
ƒ Do not touch contacts of connectors.
ƒ Only touch printed-circuit boards at contact-free areas and only position
them on suitable material (e.g. on ESD packaging or conductive foamed
material).
ƒ Only transport and store printed-circuit boards in ESC packaging.
