Only lash the vehicle down by the wheels
or wheel rims, not by parts of the vehicle
suchasaxle or steering components. Oth-
erwise, the vehiclecould be damaged.
Tow-starting (emergency engine
starting)
Please note:
R
vehicles with an automatic transmission
must not be tow-started.
R
the batterymust be connected.
R
the engine and catalytic converter must be
cold.
R
avoid repeated and lengthy starting
attempts.
Vehicles with manual transmission:
X
Turn the key to position 2 in the ignition
lock.
X
Fully depressthe clutchpedal.
X
Shifttoneutral.
X
Tow the vehicle or let it roll.
X
Shifttoasuitable gear and bring the clutch
pedal up slowly. Do not depressthe accel-
erator pedal.
The engineisstarted.
Fuses
Important safetynotes
The fuses in your vehicle serve to close down
faulty circuits. If afuse blows, all the compo-
nents on thecircuit and their functionswill
fail.

Riskoffire
Only use fuses that have been approvedfor
Mercedes-Benzvehicles and which have the
correct fuse rating for the systems con-
cerned. Do not attempt to repairorbridge
faulty fuses.Otherwise, acircuit overload
could cause afire. Have the cause traced and
rectified at aqualified specialist workshop,
e.g. aMercedes-Benz Service Centre.
Blownfuses must be replaced with fuses of
the same rating, which you can recognise by
the colour and value. The fuse ratings are lis-
ted in the fuse allocation chart.AMercedes-
BenzService Centre will be happy to advise
you.
If the newly inserted fuse also blows, have the
cause traced and rectified at aqualified spe-
cialist workshop, e.g. aMercedes-Benz
Service Centre.

brake.

Switch off all electrical consumers.

Remove the key from the ignitionlock.

viewed in the direction of travel

Do not use apointed objectsuch as a
screwdriver to open the cover in the dash-
board. You could damage the dashboard or
the cover.
