White balance is used to preserve natural colors
under different types of lighting. In (auto),
scene, and assist modes, white balance is set
automatically by the camera in response to light-
ing conditions and the selected scene. In
(manual) mode, you can choose white balance
from the following options:
Option Description

Auto
White balance automatically adjusted to suit light-
ing conditions. Best choice in most situations.
White bal. preset
Gray object used as reference to set white balance
under unusual lighting conditions.
Daylight White balance adjusted for direct sunlight.
Incandescent Use under incandescent lighting.
Fluorescent Use under most types of fl uorescent lighting.
Cloudy Use when taking pictures under overcast skies.
Speedlight Use with the ash.
