General instructions
cgm.3 system: medium voltage SF
6
gas-insulated
cubicles up to 38 kV according to IEEE and CSA standards
Description and main characteristics
3. Base: made up of the cable compartment (3a) and the
gas relief compartment (3b), see Figures 1.1 and 1.2.
The rst is located in the lower front part of the cubicle
and has a cover interlocked with the unit’s ground
connection, which allows front access to the medium
voltage cables.
The gas relief compartment is located in the lower rear
section of the cubicle. In the event of an internal arc,
the gases produced are deected downwards and to
the rear, and in no way aecting any persons, cables, or
the rest of the installation switchgear.
For cubicles with 1 s internal arc, the gases are diverted
to the trench.

1.1.1. Voltage presence indication unit
Ormazabal has two voltage presence indication options:
The ekor.vpis unit for detecting voltage, designed in
accordance with standard IEC 62271-206.
The ekor.ivds unit for detecting voltage, designed in
accordance with standard IEC 61243-5.
Both units provide a clear visual indication for the user,
without needing an auxiliary power supply for its operation.
For each of the three phases, the presence of voltage is
indicated by intermittent ashing of the indicators.
The test points for the ground and the three phases make
it easier to check the phase balance between cubicles. Any
universal comparator which complies with specications of
standard IEC 62271-206 can be used for this purpose.
If the indicators do not light up, use other means to
check that there is no voltage.
1
The numbering corresponds to the order of the phases, from
left to right, seen from the front of the cubicle. Each phase has a
test point for checking the phase balance between cubicles.

3
Voltage presence indicator
A ashing light indicates the presence of voltage in that phase.
4
Ground test point
This is only used for comparing the phases.
