■ Keep all the power cables out of the cutting
area. Power cables or lines can be hidden in
hedges or bushes and may be accidentally cut
by the blade.
■ Do not use the hedge trimmer in bad weather,
especially if there is a risk of lightning strike.
This reduces the risk of being struck by lightning.
Additional safety instructions
■ Do not use any additional equipment or attach-
ments with the hedge trimmer.
■ Check whether there are any foreign objects
in the hedges and bushes to be sheared, such
as wire fencing etc. Foreign objects can
damage the hedge trimmer.
■ We recommend connecting the appliance to a
socket outlet with a residual current device with
a rated residual current not exceeding 30 mA.
■ Hold the hedge trimmer correctly, e.g. one
hand on the handle
and one on the curved
handle . Loss of control of the hedge trimmer
can lead to injuries.
■ When operating the hedge trimmer, always
ensure that you have firm footing. Use on steps,
ladders or other unstable surfaces is not permit-
ted.
■ Before using the hedge trimmer, ensure that the
locking device(s) of all moving parts, if present,
are in the locked position.
■ Before use, always check that the blades, the
blade screws and other parts of the cutting tool
are not worn or damaged. Never work with a
damaged or heavily worn blade.
■ If the mains cable needs to be replaced, this
must be carried out by the manufacturer or an
authorised representative in order to avoid
safety hazards.
■ Never use the hedge trimmer with defective or
missing safety guards.
■ Ensure that all supplied handles and safety
guards are fitted when operating the hedge
trimmer. Never attempt to operate an incom-
pletely assembled hedge trimmer or a hedge
trimmer with non-approved modifications.
■ Ensure that all nuts, bolts and screws are tight-
ened to ensure that the hedge trimmer is in safe
working condition.
■ THIS HEDGE TRIMMER CAN CAUSE SERIOUS
INJURIES! Read the instructions on correct han-
dling, preparation, maintenance, starting and
stopping the hedge trimmer very carefully. Fa-
miliarise yourself with all manual controls and
the proper use of the hedge trimmer.
■ Children must never use the hedge trimmer.
■ Do not use the hedge trimmer while other peo-
ple, especially children, are in the vicinity.
■ Wear suitable clothing! Do not wear loose
clothing or jewellery that could get caught in
moving parts. We recommend wearing
heavy-duty gloves, non-slip footwear and
goggles.
■ If the cutting unit comes into contact with a for-
eign object, the operating noise increases or the
hedge trimmer starts to vibrate abnormally, stop
the motor and allow the hedge trimmer to come
to a standstill.
Take the following measures:
– check for damage;
– check for loose parts and secure all the
loose parts;
– replace damaged parts with equivalent
parts or have them repaired.
■ Remove the plug from the wall socket before:
– cleaning or removal of a blockage;
– inspection, maintenance or work on the
hedge trimmer;
– setting the working position of the cutting
unit;
– if the hedge trimmer is to be left unattended.
■ Always familiarise yourself with your surroundings
and be aware of potential dangers that you
may not be able to hear because of the noise
of the hedge trimmer.
