thesitesarenotsymmetrical.Thelocalsitereferredtoearlier,usesabasestationradio
(HBS)asthelinkMasterODUandtheremotesiteusesasubscriberunit(HSU)asthe
linkSlaveODU.
TheHBS/HSUandmaster/ slaveterminologywillbeusedthroughoutthemanualboth
todescribethetwolinksiteswithoutfurthercomment.
• ThelinkisnormallyconfiguredandmanagedusingaPC,themanagingcomputercon‐
nectedtotheMasterODU.(Thepreciserequirementsforthemanagingcomputerare
setoutonpage 4‐1).ItmayalsobeconnectedtotheSlaveODUeitherdirectlyorover ‐
the‐air.
Wewilloccasionallyneedtodistinguishbetweenthesitetowhichthemanaging
computerisconnected,andthesecondsite,whentheyarenotspecificallyMasterODU
orSlaveODU.Theformerwillbecalledthemanagingsiteandthelatter,theover‐the‐
airsite.Whichiswhich,isalwa ysdeterminedbythelocationofthemanaging
computer.
• RADWIN2000CPlussupportsthreeconnectionmethodsforthemanagingcomputer:
•Local‐adirectpeertopeerconnectionbetweentheEthernetportsonthemanaging
computerandthePoEdevice.
•Network‐themanagingcomputerandthesiteAIDUorPoEdevicebelongtoaLAN
andcommunicatethrougharouterorswitch
•Over‐the‐air‐themanagingcomputerconnectstositeBviatheairinterface
