Importantconsiderationswhenchoosingasuitablelocationfor
yourproduct.
Thisproductissuitableformountingbelowdecks.
Theproductshouldbemountedwhereitwillbe:
•protectedfromphysicaldamageandexcessivevibration.
•wellventilatedandawayfromheatsources.
Whenchoosingalocationfortheproduct,considerthefollowing
pointstoensurereliableandtrouble-freeoperation:
•Access—theremustbesufcientspacetoenablecable
connectionstotheproduct,avoidingtightbendsinthecable.
•Diagnostics—theproductmustbemountedinalocation
wherethediagnosticsLEDiseasilyvisible.

•Electricalinterference—theproductshouldbemountedfar
enoughawayfromanyequipmentthatmaycauseinterference
suchasmotors,generatorsandradiotransmitters/receivers.
•Magneticcompass—refertotheCompasssafedistance
sectioninthisdocumentforadviceonmaintainingasuitable
distancebetweenthisproductandanycompassesonyour
vessel.
•Power—tokeepcablerunstoaminimum,theproductmust
belocatedascloseaspossibletothevessel’sdcpower
supply.
•Mountingsurface—ensuretheproductisadequately
supportedonasecuresurface.Refertotheweightinformation
providedintheTechnicalspecicationforthisproductand
ensurethattheintendedmountingsurfaceissuitablefor
bearingtheproductweight.DoNOTmountunitsorcutholes
inplaceswhichmaydamagethestructureofthevessel.
Compasssafedistance
Topreventpotentialinterferencewiththevessel'smagnetic
compasses,ensureanadequatedistanceismaintainedfrom
theproduct.
Whenchoosingasuitablelocationfortheproductyoushould
aimtomaintainthemaximumpossibledistancefromany
compasses.Typicallythisdistanceshouldbeatleast1m(3ft)
inalldirections.Howeverforsomesmallervesselsitmaynot
bepossibletolocatetheproductthisfarawayfromacompass.
Inthissituation,whenchoosingtheinstallationlocationforyour
product,ensurethatthecompassisnotaffectedbytheproduct
whenitisinapoweredstate.
