High-pressure pump
Troubleshooting
Before performing any inspection, maintenance, cleaning or other work on the machine, shut off the engine, turn off the water
supply and squeeze the spray gun trigger until the pressure in the system has been fully released.
Condition Cause Remedy
No or too little water coming from the
high-pressure nozzle
Pressure drops or fluctuates
Water hose kinked Remove kink
High-pressure hose kinked Replace high-pressure hose
Shortage of water Open water tap completely
Check diameter and length of intake hose
Engine speed too low Run engine at full throttle
Have the engine repaired

Water intake screen clogged at inlet of high-
pressure pump
Clean water intake screen – see
"Maintenance"
Air in system Vent system by actuating the spray gun sev-
eral times at short intervals
High-pressure pump draws air Check all connections in water intake, seal if
necessary
High-pressure nozzle clogged / worn Clean high-pressure nozzle - see
"Maintenance"
Replace high-pressure nozzle
Valves in high-pressure pump worn Have the high-pressure pump repaired

Gaskets in high-pressure pump worn Have the high-pressure pump repaired
1)
Pressure/quantity control adjustment feature
is not working properly
Have the high-pressure pump repaired
1)
High-pressure pump has frozen Thaw out high-pressure pump
Water temperature too high Maintain permissible water temperature –
see “Specifications”
1)
STIHL recommends having work performed by an authorized STIHL servicing dealer
