2-8 PERIODIC MAINTENANCE
• Measure the spark plug gap A with a wire gauge.
• If it is not within the specification, replace the spark plug.
Spark plug gap: 0.9 – 1.0 mm (0.035 – 0.039 in)
Standard Spark plug
• Tighten the spark plug with specified tightening torque after
tightening the spark plug temporarily with fingers.

Spark plug: 11 N·m (1.1 kgf-m, 8.0 lbf-ft)
• Install the ignition coil/plug cap securely.
• Connect the lead wire coupler as shown.
NOTE:
The coupler of ignition coil/plug cap faces backward.

NOTICE
Changing the spark plug heat range improperly can
damage the engine.
To prevent the damage of iridium center electrode,
use a wire gauge to check the gap. Never adjust the
spark plug gap.

Hitting the ignition coil/plug cap with a plastic hammer
can damage the cap.
Do not hit the ignition coil/plug cap with a plastic ham-
mer when installing it.
