3-4 MACHINE TUNING
FRONT FORK TUNING
The front fork compression and rebound damping force, and oil
capacity are adjustable for rider’s preference, rider’s weight and
course condition.
NOTE:
* Break-in new front forks before attempting adjustment.
* Be sure to adjust both right and left front forks equally.
* Inspect the following items before attempting adjustment.
* Front fork air pressure adjustment. (2-39)
* Front fork damage and oil leakage. (2-39)
* Tire pressure. (2-40)
* Tire and wheel damage. (2-40)
* Spoke nipple tension and rim lock tightness. (2-40)
* Steering movement. (2-41)
COMPRESSION DAMPING FORCE
ADJUSTMENT
Turn the adjust screw clockwise until it stops (full hard posi-
tion).
NOTE:
To set the adjuster, you must gently turn the adjuster screw
clockwise until it stops, then back it out the recommended num-
ber of turns. Do not force the adjuster screw past the stopped
position or you may damage the adjuster.
Turn the adjust screw 1 counterclockwise and the 10th click
is the standard position.
Compression damping force adjuster
Standard setting: 10 clicks turn back
REBOUND DAMPING FORCE ADJUSTMENT
Turn the adjuster screw clockwise until it stops (full hard posi-
tion).
NOTE:
To set the adjuster, you must gently turn the adjuster screw
clockwise until it stops, then back it out the recommended num-
ber of turns. Do not force the adjuster screw past the stopped
position or you may damage the adjuster.
Turn the adjust screw 1 counterclockwise and the 11th click
is the standard position.
Rebound damping force adjuster
Standard setting: 11 clicks turn back
