TYRE CONDITION AND TYPE
Proper tyre condition and proper tyre type
affect motorcycle performance. Cuts or
cracks in the tyres can lead to tyre failure
and loss of motorcycle control. Worn tyres
are susceptible to puncture failures and sub-
sequent loss of motorcycle control. Tyre
wear also affects the tyre profile, changing
motorcycle handling characteristics.
Check tyre conditions each day before you
ride. Replace tyres if tyres show visual evi-
dence of damage, such as cracks or cuts, or
if tread depth is less than 1.6 mm front, 1.6
mm rear.
Whenever you replace a tyre, use a tyre of
the size and type listed below. If you use a
different size or type of tyre, vehicle handling
may be adversely affected, possibly result-
ing in loss of vehicle control.
