Display Waveform Data
Quick Tips
Using Probes with the TekProbe II and TekVPI Interfaces. Whe n you attach a probe with the Te k Probe II or the TekVPI
interface, the oscilloscope sets the channel sensitivity, coupling, and termination resistance automatically to match the probe
requirements. Tek Probe II probes require use of the TPA-BNC Adapter.
The Difference Between Vertical Position and Offset. Vertical position is a display function. Adjust the vertical position to
place the waveforms where you want to see them. The wave form baseline locations track adjustments m ade to t heir positions.
When you adjust vertical offset, you see a similar effect, but it is actually q uite different. Vertical offset is applied before the
oscilloscope preamplifier and can be used to increase the effective dynamic range of the inputs. For example, you can use
vertical offset to look at small variations in a larg e DC voltage. Set the vertical offset to match the nominal DC voltage and
the signal appears in the center of the screen.
50 Ω Probes. Although the channels have a 1 M Ω input term ination, the oscilloscope can also detect and set the correct
scale factor for 50 Ω probes. Make sure t o install an external 50 Ω termination for probes that req uire a 50 Ω termination,
such as the TCPA300 probe. AC and DC coup ling are available f or 50 Ω probes.
NOTE. The TCP202 current probe is not supported.
