ServiceInterval:Every100hours—Checkthemower-deck
belt.
Squeakingwhenthebeltisrotating,thebladeisslippingwhen
cuttinggrass,frayedbeltedges,burnmarks,andcracksare
signsofaworndeckbelt.
Replacethedeckbeltifanyoftheseconditionsareevident.
1.DisengagethePTOandsettheparkingbrake.
2.Stoptheengine,removethekey,andwaitforallmoving
partstostopbeforeleavingtheoperatingposition.
3.Unlatchandremovethebeltcovers.
4.Loosenthefrontidlerpulleybylooseningthenut
(Figure68andFigure69).
5.Removethewornmowerbelt(Figure68andFigure
69).
6.Installthenewmowerbeltaroundthedeckpulleysand
clutchpulley(Figure68andFigure69).
7.Usingaratchetintheidlerarm,tightentheidlerpulley
untilthespringisstretched16.5cm(6.5inches)from
hooktohook(Figure68andFigure69).
8.Tightenthefrontidlerpulleybytighteningthenut
(Figure68andFigure69).
9.Installthebeltcoversontothecuttingunitandsecure
thelatches.
