7. Replace the filler cap.
8. Start the engine and let it run at idle for 5
minutes. Then stop the engine.
9. Wait 3 minutes and recheck the oil level. If
required, add oil to bring the level to the upper
hole on the dipstick. Do not overfill.
10. Check for leaks.
IMPORTANT: Do not overfill the crankcase
with oil because this may cause engine
damage.
Changing the Engine Oil Filter
Service Interval/Specification
Replace the oil filter after the initial 50 hours of
operation and then after every 200 hours.
1. Drain the oil from the engine; refer to
Changing/Draining Oil, page 31.
2. Place a drip pan beneath the oil drip tray to
receive oil from the oil filter and oil passages in
the engine.
3. Turn the filter counterclockwise to remove it.
Note: Dispose of oil filter properly. Recycle
in accordance with local codes.
4. Before installing the filter, lightly oil the gasket
on the filter with fresh, clean oil. Screw the
filter on by hand until the gasket contacts the oil
filter adapter. Tighten 1/2 to 3/4 turn more.
5. Remove the oil filler cap and refill the engine
with a high–quality, CD class engine oil (see
viscosity chart, page 31).
6. Replace the filler cap.
7. Start the engine and let it run at idle for 5
minutes. Then stop the engine.
8. Wait 3 minutes and recheck the oil level. If
required, add oil to bring the level to the upper
hole on the dipstick. Do not overfill.
9. Check for leaks.
